CCFEW Planning Meeting Schedule

We decided to try something different this year by holding a January walk at Colonel Sam Smith Park. It was the first time in several years that we have had a January walk, and possibly the first ever January walk at Sam Smith Park.

We had a great turnout of participants on a cold January day, but a very poor turnout of birds. Waterfowl were scarce, passerines were even more scarce, and the Snowy Owl was nowhere to be seen. With patience and luck, some people were able to view glimpses of a male Harlequin Duck through a scope.

The photos below are by Brian Keaveney.

This Robin hiding out near the Powerplant was a bit of a surprise.

This Kestrel was seen at the Mimico Linear Park by those who stopped in at Birds & Beans following the walk.
