Miles Road End Parkette to Expand

For the past couple of years, CCFEW has been working with the residents of Miles Road to resolve an apparent encroachment on public waterfront. As a 30th anniversary project, we decided to look at all of the “road ends” from Mimico to Long Branch. We used the City of Toronto’s mapping tools to help determine what was public and what was private. For a variety of reasons, that’s not always obvious. At Miles Road we saw something that looked wrong. The map showed the line separating public from private land cutting across the lawn of 9 Miles Road.

It appeared that the waterfront property didn’t actually have any waterfront! After further investigation, we became more convinced that we were right. After countless emails and phone calls, we had begun to doubt anything would be done about it.

Imagine our surprise and delight to receive the message last week, “The encroachment (including boat/railings) has been moved. The work is not completed yet, and the City is planning to rehab the site at a later date.”

It looks like the Miles Road Parkette is in for a major expansion!

Looking for Action on the Etobicoke Creek Dam

The dam on the lower Etobicoke Creek was supposed to be removed in 2002. We are asking the TRCA to get this project started before the twentieth anniversary of it’s originally planned removal.










	January 20, 2021 Since our activities and expenses have been minimal since the start of the pandemic early last year, we have decided to suspend membership renewals. All paid members in 2019 are considered members in good standing through 2021. At this point, it appears that resumption of normal activities won’t happen until late this year.

	March 16, 2020 The March 24th public meeting listed below has been cancelled due the COVID-19 emergency measures. It will be rescheduled at a later date.

		February 4, 2020 Christie’s Site Redevelopment Expect a lot of meetings and consultation this year about the former Christie’s site at Parklawn & Lake Shore. The City and First Captial Realty have reached an agreement that will result in a Secondary Plan for the site. Two things will be happening concurrently: the planning study, and a Transportation Master Plan. The City has a comprehensive page here with lots of background information. One point that is repeated several times in the planning report is, *“The settlement requires the delivery of a new Park Lawn GO station.”* The next public meeting is expected in March.
